I didn't know Barb very well, but I feel the need to say something about her as she was so well known in high school.  I hope others will say some things about her as well.  Barb was a beautiful girl.  She seemed a bit shy to me, but others who knew her may think differently.  I know she was a cheerleader for years and had the prettiest smile.  I was saddened to hear about her tragic death not that many years after we graduated.  I know she left behind a son and I hope he is well.  RIP Barb.

I remember Barb, but I didn't know she was gone.  Thanks for sharing this in her memory.  I wonder who else from our class is no longer with us?

Barb had signed up for the skydiving class. I begged my mom to let me take it too.   She said it was too dangerous. I argued with her but she said no.  Next time I saw Barb she had a cast on her leg. She told me she landed wrong during the skydiving lesson and broke it. I guess my mom was right.  Barb was friendly and always smiling scurrying down the halls.   Sad to hear she is no longer here.

Barb and I were cheerleaders together and always had a great time!  We she the consummate leader and always went the extra mile to "get it right".  She was in my skydiving class, and broke her ankle on her 2nd jump.  I broke mine on the 3rd jump, and with that our skydiving years ended! She graduated from Ohio University, and took a job as a flight attendant, where she met her Husband, John Russo from Buffalo, NY.  They had one son, Johnny.  Sadly, Barb died in 1988 as a result of a  hit and run driver while crossing a street.  She was 7 months pregnant at the time with their second son. L. Jay Russo, who also did not survive the accident.  The crime was never solved.  Barb's family established a memorial Scholarship fund in her name at OU, to assist members of her sorority, Phi Beta Pi, which is still active today.

Barb was a very friendly girl I enjoyed talking to her at away basketball games before she cheered just twice but  could tell she was a girl of good character . Broke my heart to hear of the accident. What a waste of such wonderful potential and talent.  I can only imagine what a great mom she was and would have been. RIP BARB

Forrest, she was crossing the street and was hit by a hit and run driver. She lost her life way too young.  If you read Kay's posting above, she gives more info.
